YES Reading in the Community |

|
Sharon Carew |
YES Reading was invited to attend the City of San Jose 20th Annual Children’s Faire on Saturday, April 26th at Discovery Meadow in downtown San Jose. The hot and sunny weather of the weekend brought out hundreds of families to enjoy the free activity booths that local businesses, organizations, and agencies provided to the children of our community. YES Reading offered children the opportunity to decorate their own personal bookmarks to use while reading their next book.
Throughout the course of the day an estimated 200 kids stopped by the booth to make a bookmark—a couple children even came back twice! Everyone had a wonderful day and we would like to give special thanks to volunteer tutors Shobana Shankar, Melanie Stutler, and Linda Nguyen, who donated their time to make this event a success.
