A Letter From YES Reading's Board
YES Reading Welcomes a New Executive Director

Dear Supporters of YES Reading,

As some of you already know, this January as we rang in the New Year we also welcomed a new Executive Director to YES Reading.

Michael Lombardo comes to us from the University of California, Berkeley where he served as the youngest Director of Scholarships in campus history.  During his time at Berkeley, Michael built the largest alumni volunteer network in the country, bringing together thousands of Cal grads nationwide to handle an unprecedented surge in scholarship applications.

Michael also brings a wealth of fund development experience to YES Reading.  He joined UC Berkeley mid-way through a $10 million fundraising campaign for the campus's newest scholarship program and saw it through to a successful completion by the fall of 2006.  An experienced event planner, Michael instituted the Brilliance of Berkeley event series to raise money for scholarships by celebrating Berkeley alumni in entertainment and the arts.

Michael graduated with high honors from the University of Michigan. He lives in Oakland with his wife Marlene and their 18 month-old daughter Eva Pearl.

Please join me in extending a very warm welcome to Michael.  The Board and I expect great things from him.

Sincerely,
Kevin Taweel,
Chair
YES Reading Board of Directors
