Hello Tutors!
Here are a few brief announcements:
- YES Reading will be participating in the school-wide Student of the Week Program. If you would like to nominate a student for Student of the Week, please let me know!
- List of Substitutes - Every other week, I send out an email to our list of substitutes, listing the times and dates a tutor will be absent, and a student will not be seen. There is no commitment implied, but if a registered sub would like to tutor during one of the listed sessions, he/she can email me back with which session he/she would like to cover. If you would like to be on this sub list, or know someone who would like to volunteer with YES Reading in this capacity, please let me know.
Last Day of Tutoring: Wednesday, Dec. 12th will be our last day of tutoring for 2007. Tutoring will resume again on Monday, January 7th, 2007.
Home Connections - Reading Recital: You are invited to attend our annual Reading Recital at Montague Elementary! We will be hosting our recital on Wednesday, December 12th, from 1-2pm.
Holiday Gifts: At this time of the year, we know that some tutors enjoy getting a small gift for their students. If you choose to do this, we ask that the gift be a book. We have established this policy this year in order to create a fair system for all of our YES Reading students.
Martin Luther King Day : Monday, January 21st is a school holiday, and there will be no tutoring sessions this day.
Tutor Trainings : Here is a list of all of the Trainings in December and January. Please sign up in the binder, or let me know if you are able to attend one of these events.

Friday, 12/7 1-3pm, Oral Reading Strategies, Oakland, Berkely Maynard Academy
Monday, 12/10 5:30-7:30pm, Multiple Learning Styles, San Jose, Horace Mann
Monday, 1/14 5:30-6:30pm, Coffee Hour, Montague Elementary - we will be discussing the supplementary materials and games available to tutors.
